How to Use Batch Functions in Adobe Photoshop Elements 6

You may have thousand of pictures stored on your computer’s hard drive. Modifying or fixing each of these images individually may take nearly forever. The best software to use in such a situation is Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0. There are a number of batch functions available in the latest version of Photoshop Elements. For instance, if you want applying ‘red eye’ fix to all of the images in one go is also possible which means that you do not have to go through the trouble of opening each image individually and applying the ‘red eye’ fix.

Instructions

  • 1

Launch a new session of Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0. Open to the ‘File’ menu and click ‘Open’. Click and select all the files that you want to use while pressing the ‘Ctrl’ key. All of your selected files will appear in the BIN which in turn is located at the bottom of the page. There are a number of BIN ACTIONS that you can choose from. You have the option to make a new photo album, share some or all of the photos or you can make a photo book or yearly calendar using the create functions.

  • 2

After all the files have been added in the BIN, click ‘File’ once again and this time select ‘Process Multiple Files’ from the dropdown menu. The processing wizard screen will pop up on your screen. This is where all the batch functions you can perform on the selected files will be listed.

  • 3

Using the ‘Image Size’ option, you can modify the size or resolution of all the images that you added in the BIN earlier. Remember that as soon as you click the ‘OK’ button after having set the parameters such as size and resolution, of Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0 will automatically apply these changes to all images in the BIN.

Using the processing wizard, you can add caption and/or watermarks to the BIN images. Captions will help you keep a track record of where the images were taken or what they are about. Watermarks prevent the images from being used by others even if you publish the images on your website.

Another batch function is to apply image quick fixes. You can modify the colour levels, contrast, brightness etc. of all the images. However, you may want to fix the images individually because a fix that works for a particular image may not work with the other image.

You also have the option to rename all the images in one go. To make the titles distinct, you can add numbers or dates at the end of each image title.

  • 7

Changing the format of all the images is also possible. For instance, if the images in the BIN were all RAW images, you can change their format to JPG, GIF or any other image format supported by Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0.
