How to Warm Up Properly and Avoid Injury

If you are a sportsman, it is important that you remain fit otherwise you will not be able to perform to your best potential. There are a lot of things which must be done in order to stay in good shape, but sometimes we end up ignoring the simplest of exercises, which result in an injury.

There is no doubt that you have to take care of your diet if you are an athlete. You cannot afford to eat junk food, as it is not good for health. The best thing is to eat fresh fruits and vegetables, as they help you remain active throughout the day. Moreover, you are required to drink plenty of water in order to avoid dehydration.

Other than taking care of your diet, it is essential to do some fitness exercises, which help in improving your stamina. However, you need to keep your body warm before doing such things.

Suppose you are a cricketer and you have to play in extremely cold weather. Would you go out directly in the field or do some drills in order to warm up the body? The latter option seems to be a much better one, as it can help you prevent damaging muscles.

It is not a big deal to warm up your body during the summer season, as the temperature helps you in doing so. The main thing you need to take care about in that weather is to hydrate your body.

However, things are completely different when freezing winds are blowing in the field and your team’s skipper has opted to field first after winning the toss. In that case, you are required to heat up the body to a certain limit, so that there is no chance of sustaining an injury.
