How to Wax a Car

Waxing a car is something that many people enjoy doing themselves. Instead of taking it to a professional, they prefer spending a few hours in their garage to shine their car.

The amount of work that you have to put in to get an impeccable shine on your car depends on the technique and equipment that you use. If you wax your car with an ordinary piece of cloth, there is no way that you are going to get your car’s body to shine in a luxuriant way.

Using a buffer to wax your car can bring the optimum level of shine. Also, waxing your car with a buffer consumes less time and energy.

Things Required:

Car wash soap
– Car cleaning mitt
– Wax
– Buffer
– Water

Before you start to wax your car with a buffer, make sure that your car’s body is clean and there is no dirt accumulated on it. To clean your car, just wash it with a mixture of car wash soap and water. Wipe dry the car using a car wash mitt. When you are done cleaning the car, you are all set to start waxing your car with a buffer.

To avoid wax from seeping in cracks and crevices on the car’s body, cover them by applying masking tape. If you do not mask the cracks, wax will seep in them and can prove to be a nuisance when you try to clean it.

Before you turn on the buffer, use its pad to spread around the wax just a little. This will ensure that the wax does not splatter when it comes in contacts with the powered on buffer.

Now turn on the buffer. Work on the section on which you had spread around the wax in the previous step. The benefit of using a buffer instead of doing the waxing with hand is that the buffer does most of the work. You just need to keep its pad focused on the being-waxed area. Make sure that you do not apply too much pressure on the buffer because you may end up damaging the car’s body. Follow the same procedure on all other sections of the car.

When the wax has dried to a slightly opaque haze, it is time to start removing it. Just apply a wax removing cloth to the buffer and you can use the same buffer to remove the wax. As earlier, avoid exerting too much pressure to avoid any damage to the vehicle.
