You must understand that kids are more intelligent and aesthetically demanding these days so you will have to build a connection. Talk to them, read their favourite books and visit different websites to know their likes and dislikes. Think about your childhood and observe your children to get a grip over your project. -

Plan a story:
Now, when you have done all the research, it is time to set up a plot that is unique and appealing for kids. Though, the interests of children change every day but there are some certain elements in the story which always attract them. Your story should have suspense, thrill, romance and heroism to entice kids. -

Create your hero or heroine:
You should remember that some kids do not give much importance to the story-line so you should create a strong protagonist to keep them intact. Make sure that your hero or heroine is different from already existing characters. -

Avoid writing lengthy scenes and dialogues as the children do not have patience to wait for the climax. Keep pace of the story fast by employing different story telling techniques. However, make sure that they learn something after reading your stuff.
