Kraut Salat Recipe

The Kraut salad is also known as German salad. It is a healthy mix of shredded cabbage and carrot in olive oil and lemon juice and can be the perfect appetizer or side dish, which ever you want it. It goes best with fried and grilled food like kebabs, steaks and barbecue.

It takes just 15 minutes  to prepare it. However, it can always be stored in the refrigerator for long without any effect on the taste. You can use a knife or grater to grate the vegetables. Ingredients:

-1/4 white cabbage
-1 large carrot
-1 tablespoon olive oil
-juice of 1/2 a lemon
-good pinch of salt according to your taste

    Grate the cabbage finely. Use the food processor or the grater. Do the same with the carrot. Combine both of them in a large bowl and toss together well.

    Season with the salt. Now use your hands to squeeze the salad. Do wash your hands and dry them before doing this process. Squeezing the vegetables will release their juices and their sweetness will play with the salt you added.

    Squeeze half a lemon and add this juice to the salad, mixing in well by stirring. Add the olive oil to the salad and stir again. Leave the salad to rest for around ten minutes before serving so that the flavors blend well and you get the best of taste.
