London Bridge Tube Station
The famous London Bridge spans over the Thames river and allows traffic to flow between the city of London and Southwark. On the Southwark side rests the London Bridge Tube station, which is a large complex containing both, London Undergrounds and railway services. Because of its central location, the railway station has seen several owners and many re-vamps ever since its inception in 1836. Over the years, the management or ownership of the railway station has come under London and Greenwich Railway, London and Croydon Railway station, South Eastern Railway, London Brighton and South Coast Railway and Southern Railway. However, it was in 1900 that C&SLR built under ground portion of the station – which is now the tube station. The tube serves over 60 million people per year, and has on display some Roman artifacts which were found during the excavation of the underground station and tunnels. Originally, main entrance to the tube station was from Three Castles House but that has been changed and currently the 6 entrances and exits are located on; Borough High Street East, Borough High Street West, Bus Station, Duke Street Hill, Duke Street Hill 2, Station Approach and Tooley Street. The building also houses numerous facilities for passengers including elevators, bathrooms and services for the disabled. Places to explore near London Bridge Tube Station.
