London Fashion Week Events

London Fashion Week falls in the league of the Big Four; the New York Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week. Organized by the British Fashion Council, this is a high profile event dominated by seductive glitz and glamour. Sponsors of this event include big names like Cannon and LG. However, the official sponsor for this year is Vodafone. The London Fashion Week is reported to attract more media attention then any other sport or entertainment event held in the same quarter, and the crowd is expected to surge above 5ooo with buyers, guests, T.V and newspaper journalists. Every day of this week has a party touch to it with loads of adrenaline pumping for the spectators, the designers and of course, the models.

    History of London Fashion Week:

    Starting in 1984, the London Fashion Week has always been a huge success, and it has achieved to steal headlines every time. Since then, it is held two times each year and contributes hugely to the bloom of apparel retail and designer business sector. On average, each event generates over 100 million pounds in goods orders. It is the only fashion event that has fully exploited the wonders of digital media by allowing designers to showcase their collection on the catwalk using the Internet through live streaming. Being held at the Somerset House, a centre of art and learning, the event has made its mark in the London calender of events.

    Activities at London Fashion Week:

    The highlights of the week include catwalks, exhibition, and the digital schedule that offers designers from all over the world to show their collection through live Internet streaming.

    This september, there are 50+ catwalks on schedule with over hundred designers portraying their art in ready to wear and accessories. Many more designers will be showcasing virtually.

    The Fashion Week is all about crazy parties, fantastic dresses, champagne and absolutely gorgeous models. This is London's time to turn to party.

    Duration:

    It's a week long event. The main event starts from the 14th September and ends on the 18th. The London Fashion Weekend will be held from the 20th September to the 23rd September. This is  open for general public and is more retail focused.

    Tickets for this event are booked by enthusiasts many months earlier. There are different ticket prices for the three days i.e 20th-23rd September, and for the nature of activities you wish to get involved in.     How to get there:

    By tube:
    The nearest tube station is the Convent Garden tube station. It will take you nearly 6 minutes to cover the 0.3 miles distance. From the station, move Northeast on Long Acre/B402 in the direction of Long Acre/B402. Then take a right turn towards Bow St and keep on walking at Wellington St. After covering a distance of 0.1 miles, take a left turn towards  Strand/A4 and then take a u-turn at A301 and you will find the destiantion on your left View Map

    By bus:
    The nearest bus tsop is Savoy Street (U)‎. Buses 6, 9, 11, 13, 15, 23, 87, 91, 139, 176, N9, N11, N13 & N15 board from here.
