Medical Apology Email
If you, being a doctor, or your hospital have conducted a wrong operation on a patient, or if you failed to diagnose a patient properly, then you definitely owe the patient an apology instead of remaining silent and expecting yourself or your hospital staff to be forgiven. If you are fortunate and your apology sounds genuine, then the patient may not sue you.
While writing a medical apology email, start-off by apologising to the patient in the first paragraph, clearly accepting your mistake.
In the second paragraph, explain to the patient what you or your hospital did wrong. Also try to give a reason for the negligence or mistake that was committed.
In the final paragraph, apologise to the patient once again and assure them that you will take all necessary steps to undo the mistake that was committed.

Please allow me to apologise on behalf of our hospital for the accidental incorrect medical treatment that was conducted on you.
I am aware of the fact that we had admitted you to room number 17 at our hospital to perform a gall bladder operation on you. However, we admitted a patient of hernia in the same room as you. Due to negligence on part of our staff, your reports got mixed up with that of the hernia patient and we ended up conducting a hernia operation on you.
It was the most regretful display of negligence and unforgivable mistake on our part. I assure you that this matter will be looked into and the personnel responsible for it will be duly punished. I would like to inform you that the hospital is willing to conduct a gall bladder operation on you free of cost and will also take care of all other medical expenses that are incurred. We sincerely apologise for our mistake and pray for your good health.
