Midori Illusion Cocktail Recipe

The Midori Illusion cocktail is the perfect drink for a scorching summer day – much like its name, the cocktail is bound to give its drinker the feeling of having spotted a mirage or an oasis in the middle of a scorching hot desert. A tropical cocktail, the Midori Illusion is blue-green in color – however, the darkness or lightness of the colour can be adjusted by tailoring the amount of Blue Curacao and midori you use.

Made with midori, vodka, Bacardi, cointreau, Blue Curacao, pineapple juice, and lemon juice, the cocktail is a refreshing blend of sweet, tropical flavours, and can be enjoyed both during the afternoon, and as an evening drink.

Preparation Time: 3 to 5 minutes
Serving Size: Serves 1 person
Utensils: Cocktail shaker, cocktail glass, metal strainer

Ingredients:
– 1 oz midori
– 1 oz vodka
– 1 oz Bacardi
– 1 oz cointreau
– 1/2 oz Blue Curacao
– 1 ½ oz pineapple juice
– 2/3 oz fresh lemon juice
– Ice cubes or cracked ice
– Lime or lemon wedges for garnishing

Instructions

  • 1

Before you begin preparing the drink, place your cocktail glass in the refrigerator to chill – since this is a tropical summer drink, you will want to make sure it is ice cold, and a frosted, misty cocktail glass is a perfect vessel to hold it in.

  • 2

Then, proceed to assemble the drink. Take a cocktail shaker and fill it about a quarter of the way with ice cubes, or cracked ice.

  • 3

Next, pour 1 oz of midori, 1 oz of vodka, 1 oz of Bacardi, 1 oz of cointreau,  1/2 oz of Blue Curacao, 1 ½ oz of pineapple juice, and 2/3 oz of fresh lemon juice into the cocktail shaker.

  • 4

Cover the lid of the cocktail shaker securely, hold it firmly with both hands, and shake it vigorously for around 15 to 20 seconds, until all the ingredients have blended together thoroughly.

  • 5

Once this is done, remove the lid of the cocktail shaker and use a metal strainer to strain the drink into your pre-chilled cocktail glass (this is to prevent any unshapely pieces of ice from making their way into your cocktail).

  • 6

Finally, add some fresh ice cubes to the cocktail, and garnish it with a fresh lemon or lime wedge. Serve chilled.
