It dates back to 1907, but since 2001, it works under the Criminal Justice and Court Services Act. The NPS is an integral arm of the National Offender Management Service (NOMS), earlier working under Home Office, but from 9th of May 2007, under the Ministry of Justice United Kingdom. It supervises thousands of offenders and furnishes (pre sentence reports) to the courts of England and Wales.
