Old Doc Baker’s Booster Cocktail Recipe

Made from Rose’s lime juice, Bufferin tablets, Squibb’s B-1 tablets, Dexedrine tablets, lime juice, Angostura bitters, Eno’s fruit salts and aromatic spirits of ammonia, Old Doc Baker’s Booster cocktail packs quite a punch. As the name suggests, the cocktail is bound to set you straight and have you up on your feet in no time. Invented by renowned cocktail writer Charles H. Baker Jr., this drink can be prepared in 5 or less minutes, and is a potent, eye-opening, and mind-blowing combination of alcohol, medication, and lime juice.

Preparation Time: 2 to 5 minutes
Serving Size: Serves 1 person
Utensils: Electric blender, Collins glass, spoon, drink stirring rod

Ingredients:
– 12 ounces water
– 2 teaspoons Rose’s lime juice
– 2 Bufferin tablets
– 4 50-mg Squibb’s B-1 tablets
– 2 yellow Dexedrine tablets
– 1/2 ounce lime juice
– 1/2 to 1 teaspoon Angostura bitters
– 2 teaspoons Eno’s fruit salts
– 2 dashes aromatic spirits of ammonia
– Cracked ice

Instructions

  • 1

Start by putting the Collins glass in your refrigerator, so that it is completely chilled by the time you are ready to serve the booster cocktail. This is a drink that needs to be completely chilled by the time you are ready to serve – a lukewarm booster cocktail will be insipid and ineffective.

While the glass is chilling away, fill half of an electric blender with finely cracked ice (you can also use regular ice cubes for this purpose).

  • 3

Then, gradually add 12 ounces of water, 2 teaspoons of Rose's lime juice, 2 Bufferin tablets, 4 50-mg Squibb's B-1 tablets, 2 yellow Dexedrine tablets, 1/2 an ounce of lime juice and 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of Angostura bitters into the electric blender.

  • 4

Turn the blender on and pulse on high for around 15 seconds, or until everything has been broken down and all the ingredients are thoroughly mixed. Then, pour the mixture out into your chilled Collins glass, and stir it with a spoon for few seconds, to make sure all the ingredients are well-combined.

As a finishing touch, top the drink with 2 tablespoons of Eno's fruit salts and 2 dashes of aromatic spirits of ammonia, to add a final kick to the already powerful cocktail. Once this is done, your Old Doc Baker's Booster cocktail is ready. Serve chilled.
