History
Photomonth was started in 2001 as an international photography festival. The event was meant to showcase modern photography to as many people as possible. It has taken place every year and is produced by Alternative Arts. In 2011, approximately 200 galleries displayed the work of photographers from around the world as part of the event. -

Activities
Photomonth tries to bring as much exposure to the world of photography as possible. They do this by setting up different exhibitions around East London or other events. Activities during the festival include photofair, photolounge, photomonth lecture, photo-open and photowalks. -

Important Dates:
Fall - The event takes place during October and November of each year. In 2011 the event started on September 29 and had the final activity on December 3. -

Events are lined up for two months. However, some events or workshops do take place beyond this time frame. -

How to get There
By Tube:
The White Chapel tube stop is the closest to the organizers offices. Once you exist the station head South West and stay on Winthrop street. Then turn left on Durward Street and keep right to stay on it. Make a right onto Vallance Road and eventually turn left onto Old Montague Street. You will then finally make a right on to Hanbury Street. View Map.
By Bus:
You can use Old Montague Street (Stop U) to get to the location. Bus number D3 makes a stop there. After getting off at the bus stop go south on Vallance Road. Then make a right onto Hanbury street and keep following it until you reach the destination.
