The Regularisation Application is used when construction work has been started or completed and the local authorities have not been served any building details, notification or application. In such situations, the owner or an agent (who works on behalf of the owner) looks to regularise the unauthorised work by requesting for a regularisation certificate. This request should be made to the local authority, which then follows certain procedures in order to issue a certificate about the work that was carried out without submitting any details, notice or plans. However, this process will require the site work to be exposed for check up by the authorities, who may also take some samples and tests of materials used in the construction. Moreover, structural plans and calculation details may also be demanded from the applicant in this scenario, but the regularisation should not be considered as a shortcut to other regular procedures.

    A duly signed and fully completed regularisation application form should be submitted along with the following:

The Building Control service will not only inform an applicant about all the requirements, but also tell him or her about the fee to be charged for this type of work. In case of an urgent requirement of the certificate, most local authorities prefer to accept cash rather than cheque, which need to be cleared before the issuance of certificate.
