Steps to Become a Police Officer
We live in a time where security of one’s own and others has become an issue. The world was a lot more peaceful a few decades a go but easy access to guns for anyone means that we now live in times where violence has become a part and parcel of one’s life.
This has lead a greater need of law enforcement personnel and police is one of the most important components of law enforcement. Cops are well respected all over the world as everyday they put their own lives on the line to make sure that those of others are safe.
It is a courageous decision to become a cop and if you have decided to take this line of action, you will need to fulfil some requirements and go through a process to be able to achieve just that.

Make a Commitment
Being a police officer is not as easy as it may sound and it needs a lot of commitment from individuals. One has to be willing to work for long hours in conditions that may not always be conducive. It is a good idea to have a detailed discussion with a cop before you decide and if possible, go along for a ride with them have an idea how it works.

Get an Associate Degree
Most police departments require an associate degree, preferably in criminal law or some other law related field. If it is not required, it is still a good idea to get one as that will reflect well on the application and can be helpful in landing you a spot on the force.

Pass the Exams
In order to qualify for the police, you will be required to take a written and oral exam. You should be able to get information won what kind of exam you will be taking and prepare well before hand.

Pass your Physical Exam
Being fit is an essential part of the job. You will need to be fully ft and be able to pass the physical exam which I s a must for the job. Get the information about what sort of tests you may need to pass and get in shape if you are out of it.

Work Hard at the Academy
If you qualify in the entire above mentioned exam, you will be going to the police academy for training. Work hard and perform well as it will be a good thing to have a positive report when you leave the academy. Stays fit and work hard and you should be on your way to be a career cop.
