Tequila Sunrise Cocktail Recipe

The Tequila Sunrise Cocktail looks and taste amazing. The story behind Tequila Sunrise Cocktail says that it was invented by Gene Sulit and was originally served at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel, a resort located in Phoenix. This refreshing drink was named for the way it looks after it has been poured into a glass. The unique colour of this drink automatically attracts people. The original Tequila Sunrise consists of tequila, soda water, crème de cassis and limejuice. Later on, an orange juice and grenadine syrup were included to bring variation in the drink. However, Bobby Lazoff and Billy Rice at the Trident restaurant in Sausalito California invented the more popular version in the early 1970s. This recipe makes just one drink and takes approximately 2 minutes. The denser the grenadine, the greater this alcoholic mixed drink will create gradations in colour that mimic a sunrise. Ingredients;

4 oz orange juice
2 oz tequila
1/2 oz grenadine
Ice cubes
Orange slice or maraschino cherry for garnishing- optional

    Take a pre-chilled highball glass and half fill it ice cubes.

    Now, pour the 2 oz of tequila and 4 oz of orange juice into the highball glass and give it a very slight stir.

    Gradually pour the 1/2 oz of grenadine around the inside edge of your highball glass and let it sink and slowly rise to mix with the other ingredients of the drink naturally.  The mixture of the ingredients in a unique way will gives a great colourful sunrise effect in the glass.

    Your Tequila Sunrise Cocktail is ready to serve, garnish it with an orange slice and a maraschino cherry and present.
