The Round House Arts Centre London

The Round House Arts Centre was converted from a railway repair shed to an upbeat concert venue and performing arts site. This large spherical structure since then has hosted notable promotions like launch of the International Times (an underground paper) in the year 1966, and later it became a hub of exciting live music programmes, theatres, circus, dance and different media facilities. The Round House Arts Centre is basically a charity therefore, they charge an entry fee in the form tickets. However, they cannot alone depend on the income generated from the sale of tickets, therefore the management of Round House Arts Centre allows for people to carry out private functions and events at this venue.

History of The Round House Arts Centre:

The Round House Arts Centre was constructed in 1846, but at that time this site was used as steam engine repair place - in other words, it was a shed. However, this site soon became a warehouse and later in 1964, as a result of a movement by a trade union, the Round House eventually became a progressive arts venue. This is when several top rated artists performed at The Round House Arts Centre, including Peter Brook, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix and The Living Theatre of New York. However, in 2004, the Round House Arts Centre was closed down for redevelopment and £30 million budget was devoted for this cause. Finally, this site opened once again after redevelopment on June 1, 2006.
