Islam is a religion which believes that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad (PBUH) is His last messenger. He conveyed messages of Almighty Allah to the Ummah (his people). It took Muhammad (PBUH) 23 years to preach Islam and he preached with help of the Holy Book, Quran. In his journey, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) went to several places at which many events took place. There are places in this world which still holds essence of the holy prophet and his family. Besides this there are places where some events took place which are significant to Muslims around the world.

    Kaaba (Masjid-al-Haram)

    Kaaba is Allah’s house which is situated in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. It exists from the time of Adam and is renovated and built again many times. Muslims from all over the world visit Kaaba every year in order to fulfil the obligations of Hajj or the holy pilgrimage. Surrounding Kaaba is the biggest mosque in the world, Masjid-al-Haram.

    Masjid-e-Nabvi

    Masjid-e-Nabvi is the second largest mosque in the world. It is located in Medina, Saudi Arabia and is special because Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) laid the foundation by himself. Everyone who visits Kaaba for Hajj come to Masjid-e-Nabvi as well. This is because Masjid-e-Nabvi is the final resting place of Hazarat Muhammad (PBUH) and Muslims come here to pay tribute to their beloved prophet.

    Najaf

    Najaf is located in Iraq and is one of the holy cities of Islam. The tomb of Hazarat Ali ibne talib is located in this city. He was a great man and also cousin and son-in-law of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

    After people of Makkah made Muhammad (PBUH) life miserable, he migrated to Medina which then become the central place for Islam. The beloved prophet himself lived in this city and is buried here as well.

    Land of Karbala

    Karbala is the city of Iraq where the most brutal and deadliest war of Islam took place. The family tree of Muhammad (PBUH) ended here in the war which occurred in month of Muharram. Umayyad Caliph, Yazid, stopped food and water supplies to all who were called at this site. Everyone was murdered brutally including children and women here. The grandson of Muhammad (PBUH) sacrificed his life in this land.

    Cave Hira is located in a mountain Jabal al noor in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. In this cave an angel named Jibrael came to Muhammad (PBUH) and told him that he is prophet of Allah.

    Masjid Quba

    This mosque has a lot of significance in Islam. It is located in Medina, Saudi Arabia and the first stone of this mosque was placed by Muhammad (PBUH). A person who prays a nafil in this mosque receives virtues equivalent to performing an Umrah.
