Michelle Obama
She is the wife of the 44th US President, Barack Obama, the first African-American head of state. The 49-year old first lady is a lawyer and a writer. Born in Chicago, Illinois, she attended Princeton University and Harvard Law School before coming back to Chicago to begin her career in a law firm. She was in this firm when she met Obama.
She was also a staff member of Chicago mayor Richard M. Daley, and has also worked for University of Chicago Medical Centre.
She played an important role during her husband’s campaign for the 2007-08 presidential bid. She is now a fashion icon for millions of women all over the world.

Angela Merkel
She is Germany’s incumbent Chancellor since 2005 and heads the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). She is the first woman in Germany to hold these positions.
Merkel entered politics in 1989, and served as the deputy spokesperson for the East German Government. She has been tagged by many as the de facto leader of the European Union.

She is the wife of King Abdullah II of Jordan. Born to Palestinian parents in Kuwait, she received her early education over there and then moved to Egypt for a degree in Business Administration, which she received from the American University in Cairo. Khar is the former Foreign Minister of Pakistan. She began her political career under the government of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz in 2002, where she served in the Finance Ministry and Foreign Ministry. She is also Pakistan’s first ever female Foreign Minister, after succeeding Shah Mehmood Qureshi in 2011. During her time in office, she stabilised relations with Pakistan’s neighbouring country, India.
