University of Westminster, formerly known as Polytechnic of Central London, has created a place for itself in the list of well respected research universities with in 20 years of gaining university status. The university started off as the Royal Polytechnic Institute in 1838 and was dedicated to provide technical education for professionals. In 1970 it collaborated with the Languages & Commerce department of Holborn College of Law and formed the Polytechnic of Central London. Eventually, both sections of the institute were merged in 1991. The university finally obtained degree awarding university status in 1992. Since then the university has increased the number of disciplines taught and opened seven new schools. Currently, it has 45 departments and 65 research centres, which have an annual budget of about $ 250 million. The university enrolls about 7000 postgraduate and 17000 undergraduate students in more than 200 different degree programs.

    How to Get to University of Westminster:

    By Tube:

    Goodge Street Tube Station is located about 0.3 miles from university. After leaving tube station on Tottenham court road, walk toward Tottenham Street and turn left onto Howland Street. University of Westminster will be on your right. View Map


    By Bus:

    Buses 88, 453, C2 and N18 can take you to the Soho, Margaret Street Oxford Circus (Stop RD), which is just beside the main gate of University of Westminster.
