Upminster Bridge Tube Station London

Upminster Bridge tube station is situated in travel zone 6 and the station serves the district lines between Upminster and Hornchurch Tube stations. The station is located in London Borough of Havering on the Western side of Hornchurch area, currently serving 12 off peak district line trains per hour, and 15 trains per hour during the peak hours. The station is one of the busiest in the Eastern most terminuses of District lines and is about 2 minutes away from Upminster on district lines, and 20 minutes away from Barking station. The Upminster Bridge station was opened in 17 December 1934 on the newly built electrified tracks by the London Midland and Scottish Railways. Though it was built and managed by the London Midland and Scottish Railway, but it was only serving District Lines trains.  Later in 1948, when the nationalization of railways act was passed, the management rights of the station were shifted to British Railways. Further in 1969, when London Underground was pushing itself to new heights, the ownership of the station was awarded to London Underground. The station offers a range of facilities including ticket halls, gates, toilets, bridge, waiting room, while it the ticket hall can be accessed through Upminster Road after a walk of about 3 minutes.
