History
In 1841, James Pennethorne designed an architectural view of the park and this design was so efficient that the park was completed in 1843. A pagoda was acquired in 1847 to make the all new entrance of Victoria Park. Later in 1873, Queen Victoria visited the park and she ordered several improvement plans. 1987 was a very difficult time on the park as several trees and plants were destroyed by the Great Storm. The park also remained under a number of managements: in 1887 the park was transferred to Metropolitan Board of Works, and later in 1889, it was transferred to the London County Council which passed it to the Greater London Council in 1965. It finally came under the supervision of Tower Hamlets in 1986. -
