Volunteers Required for London Olympics

For 2012 London Olympics, 250 teams of game makers are required to make the games happen. According to the management’s estimation total 2,000 people are selected, each team will consist of team members between the range of 2 – 18. Depending upon the size of the team, each group will be assigned with a single or double team leads.  The shortlisted candidates will be lucky enough to be part of this extravagant event of not only London, but the entire globe. Though the game makers will not get paid for the activities which they will perform, still they are very much excited about the life time experience they will acquire.

    Getting Enrolled:

    Getting enrolled for 2012 London Olympics Volunteering Services is the first step volunteers need to take. Although the game makers applications are closed, still there're many opportunities for young enthusiasts to become a part of mega event.

    Orientation Session:

    The selected candidates are first called for the orientation, in which they are made familiar with their field along with the area where they will be shifted. Attending an orientation is very important, because you are not only introduced with your role, but with the team members as well.

    Training Period:

    After the orientation session, three days training period will start, aside a half-day selection event. The management will give game makers their uniforms and check if their training practice certification is accepted or not.

    Selection of Team Lead:

    Every team has a main team lead along with a secondary team lead, so that work granted to each group is effectively completed. The members are strictly advised to follow the instructions given by the team lead and if there is any issue then consult the management, instead getting involved into an argument. Before the games start three days training session will again take place.

    Assigning Roles

    Various roles are assigned to every team. Volunteering is a tough job, few might work behind the scene, distributing uniform, and few are probably told to work during anti-social hours. Each team lead is responsible for his/her respective team. The game makers are split into following departments:

    Technology, Sitting Volleyball, Athletic, Aquatics, Beach Volleyball, 5-a-side and 7-a-side Football, Volleyball and Taekwondo

    Volunteering Duration:

    For minimum 10 days, volunteers have to remain part of this prestigious event. It is up to them if they wish to volunteer for both Olympics as well for Paralympics. The shift will last for maximum 8 to 10 hours, the game makers will also be endowed with the resting period.

    Appearance of each Game Maker:

    Besides performing their respective duties the game makers have to look presentable and active. While on duty they should be wearing their uniforms because they are basically representing Olympics 2012. Every volunteer should possess the ability of problem solving, performing tasks effectively, especially on time.

    Duty is Duty:

    Volunteers will not be allowed to leave their task in order to watch the match. They might have a ticket, but no one is allowed to roaster their ticket with anyone else.

    Accommodation and Travel:

    Accommodation will not be provided to the game makers, but during the shifts they will be granted with the provision of free travelling on public transport (with in London zones 1-6).
