Wembley Stadium London

It took three years to complete the construction of Europe’s second largest sport venue, Wembley Stadium. The location is responsible for scheduling football matches under the supervision of the English football’s governing body, Football Association. Previous stadium situated at the similar location was famous by the name of Empire Stadium, but after its demolition in 2003, Wembley Stadium was built. Currently the venue covers 40,000 m^2, but 13,722 m^2 portion is detachable. The previous building was beautiful enough to grab visitor’s attention, but the present structure has permanently got hold of the lime light. Besides football the venue is used for various purposes, in Olympiad XXX 2 football gold medal events will be scheduled, in which men and women both will participate.

    History

    Before Wembley Stadium was made public, Empire Stadium was being used for the major events of football. In 1923 this football venue was inaugurated, since then it has scheduled various prominent events like, 1985 Live Aid concert, the final of Euro 96, in 1966 World Cup Final and the WWF Summer Slam 1992. After its demolition architect Foster, Panther along with Nathaniel Lichfield and Partners were given the duty to beautifully reconstruct the building. With the budget of £783 million building was successfully completed in 2006. Total capacity, which includes visitors sitting and standing is 105000, this makes the stadium second largest venue of Europe.

    There is a store located near the ticket office. The Stadium store mainly contains attire and accessories which are usually found in football kit.     How to Get There:

    9 minutes walk is required to cover the distance of 0.4 mile between Wembley Stadium and the nearest tube station, Wembley Park. Take an exit from the station and move in the west direction. Keep on walking until you reach Empire Way/A479. The last turn will take you towards the Royal route on which you will have to wrap up 0.3 mile distance.     By Bus:

    Olympic Way‎ bus station is few feet away from the Wembley Stadium. You can take route number 92 from Chuck End (Willesden) bus station and 206 from Kilburn Park bus station to reach at your destination.
