Youth Justice Board London

The Youth Justice Board (YJB) is a decision-making non-departmental public body for England and Wales. This public body was formed under the Act of Crime and Disorder 1998 in order to look after the youth justice system of England and Wales. The sponsor of The Youth Justice Board (YJB) is MoJ, while its board members are chosen by the Secretary of State for Justice. This body prevents offending and re-offending, support victims, protect people and endorses the protection and wellbeing of children and people below 18 years of age in the Criminal Justice System. The main functions of YJB on the other hand are supervising of young people justice services, commissioning a separate safe estate, placement of people less than 18 years of age in custody, plus identifying and propagation of effective practice across young people justice services.
